Duncan's mom Liz跟他朋友第一次來台灣玩

Duncan's mom Liz and his friend Steve came to Taiwan

剛好要來台北玩幾天

我這個半個地主就一起帶他們去走走啦~

(明明是個路痴一.一對台北也沒多熟....Dunc都比我熟吧....)

They are spending a few days in Taipei; since I am staying in Taipei right now, feel that I should show them around. But honestly, with my terrible sense of direction and lack of knowledge about Taiwan, Dunc probably know Taipei better than me : P

第一站來到了有名的 龍山寺
First stop is the famous Longshanshi

這裡是我一直想要來看看的地方、只是一直沒有成行
有點訝異這裡比我想像中的小很多
原本以為是一間很大間的廟
人潮也還好、可能因為天氣沒很好又飄一點雨

I had always wanted to come to Longshanshi, but never did find time to come.
It's much smaller than I imagined it would be, since it's so famous, thought it would be a really large temple. The crowds aren't too bad, maybe because it had been raining a bit.

文昌帝君

對於龍山寺的歷史跟背景不是很了解。有點尷尬....哈...很不及格的導遊 >"<"
只知道這邊有名的好像是文昌帝君，每當考試期間都會有很多人來求考運。

A bit embarrassed, since I am suppose to be the guide, but I don't know much background or history about Longshanshi. All I knew about it is that one of the God - Wen Cheng - protects students and anyone taking exams. He brings good luck and protection to them. So every year during exam seasons, here would be packed with students hoping to get a good mark and enters a good school.

這邊讓我有點驚訝的是古色古香的龍山寺被包圍在非常現代的大樓群中。

原本以為是佔地很廣的一座廟在一個比較像鹿港那種感覺的地方。

不過畢竟是在台北市中心....我想得太美好了

I imagined here to be a place more like Lugang, more old fashion and open space. Surprised to see that it is surrounded by high tech, modern tall buildings. After all here is still in the middle of Taipei city. This really gives a weird sense of old and new combining together.

逛完龍山寺

我們來到了 剝皮寮 Bopilio

After Longshanshi, we went to Bopilio.

這邊是一個歷史街道，重建1940年前的台灣街景。

不過我還真得沒聽過剝皮寮是甚麼地方一.一.....

而且這邊因為是重建的關係、感覺假假的。我還是比較喜歡鹿港老街。

Bopilio is a historical street, trying to reconstruct Taiwan in the years before 1940. I never heard of Bopilio, didn't know what it is till we visited that day. Think because it's been reconstructed, feels a bit fake. I still like Lugang old street better.

整個剝皮寮區，我只喜歡這個迴廊。

很古典，剛好有新人也在這邊取景拍婚紗。

This is probably the only place that I really like in Bopilio. It's got a really ancient, quiet feeling. We happened to walk into a couple taking their wedding pictures.

一直知道艋舺就在龍山寺附近，也知道這裡很有名。

可是我一直以為艋舺是一個地名，就像是士林、東區這樣，是一個區域。

只是很誇張的是、一直到問了路人才知道...

我們剛剛經過的地方、就是有名的艋舺電影拍片現場。

我到現在還搞不清楚、艋舺是剝皮寮的別名?是一個地區?

還是只是電影"艋舺"拍片現場才得到這個名子的?

(我也沒看過這片電影一.一!!)

I always knew that Manka is near Longshanshi, and is a famous place too. I thought Manka is an area like Shilin, Eastside, but we didn't realize it's where we just passed by until we asked someone nearby.

I still don't know if Manka is another name for Bopilio or it is just the house where the movie "Manka" takes place? (Didn't see that movie yet, not really interested in it)

之後我們去了淡水老街
走一走、吃吃小吃

N度跟Duncan他們走丟一.一...

Later on we went to Danshui old street for some traditional food; have a walk around before going to the next stop. Many times we and Liz got separated from Duncan and Steve, spend some time trying to find each other haha.

下一站來到Duncan跟成xx都強烈推薦的 中正紀念堂

Next stop is CKS Memorial Hall, where Duncan and William strongly recommended to go.

之前跟電鑑團表演來過一次國家音樂廳

不過遊覽車直接開到後門...也沒仔細看外觀就進去排練了

第一次看清楚原來音樂廳外表是這麼中國風的

Been to the concert hall once to perform, but we all went in from the backdoor to rehearsal without really looking at the building. Didn't even realize it's in a traditional Chinese style.

國家戲劇院

原本早上天氣陰陰的，到了下午後天空變得很晴朗

超漂亮的天空!! 中正堂這邊真的還蠻壯觀的

Was cloudy in the morning, but sky became clear in the afternoon.

The sky is just so BEAUTIFUL. The view here at CKS is just stunning.

成xx問說為什麼 Steve 跟 Duncan 照相都要站得遠遠的....好像兩個人很不熟一樣

他們說因為他們是英國人!! 不過他們也當場示範了"非英國人"的照相方式啦...

William asked why Steve and Duncan have to stand far apart from each other like they donno each other everytime when they are taking photos. They said that because they're British, but they also demonstrate the "un-british" way.

最後一站來到台北101

Our last stop is Taipei101

Dunc, Steve 跟 Liz 上去頂樓看看，

不過上去就要 $400所以我跟麻ㄇ跟成xx就在樓下吃冰、休息等他們囉~

Dunc, Steve and Liz went to the observatory floor to see the view. It's $400 to go up, and since there isn't really anything special for us about Taipei. Me, Ash and William stayed downstairs for some

ice cream and rest.

我們原本還要去士林夜市的

不過因為大家都很累了....所以在101樓下吃完晚餐就解散了

捷運也不知道為什麼超級多人的.....全部擠成一團

We were supposed to go to Shilin Night martket too, but we are all too tired, so end our trip with dinner at Taipei101. Some how MRT is very crowed, we squeezed our way through.
